Barbados National Championships 2004... The National Championships consists of 3 separate divisional tournaments - Juniors (under 19 years old), Veterans (over 35 years old) and Open category.
The Junior Nationals covers boys and girls agegroups of U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19. The veterans includes O35, O40, O45 and O50. The Open category is where the best players on the island slug it out to see who will have the honour of being crowned "Barbados National Champion 2004". Shawn Simpson and Karen Meakins are the 2004 Barbados National Squash Champions. The pair won their respective finals on Saturday evening at the Barbados Squash Club in the 2004 National Championships, sponsored by the Barbados Olympic Association. The event hosted by the Barbados Squash Rackets Association was played over two weeks with both a Veterans Competition and an Open Men’s and Ladies’ event. After a week of intense play at the Barbados Squash Club in Hastings, Andy Gill and Karen Meakins, seeded No 1 in Men and Ladies play respectively have reached the finals of the 2004 Barbados National Squash Championships, sponsored by the Barbados Olympic Association. Their opponents, the No 2 seeds who also made it through unscathed, Shawn Simpson and Sonia Perkins. FINALS: SAT MAY 8 FROM 1PM, LADIES FINALS: 4:15 PM, MENS FINALS 5 PM Rhett Cumberbatch and Bo Harris were the most impressive players in the boys and girls events of the recently concluded Sagicor General Barbados Junior Squash Nationals.
